MO_Thoughts2 says,

Sometimes battles are just stepping stones to ultimately winning the war.

RichardFrancis says,

the war is against my father..we haven't spoke in 8 years and he hates me and dosn't want me, and i have no reason why..it drives me nuts..i feel like that battle is lost, which is fine to me..i just want to know what i did?? but winning the war like you said, could be my finally getting over him..which is easier said than done.

MO_Thoughts2 says,

I don't understand how a parent can hate a child. Maybe he hates himself for not being in your life and projects that hate towards you because it's easier to accept.

Time has a way of softening the edges. All you can do is try to open the doors of communication. Knock and maybe he'll answer, maybe the door will be shut in your face, but at least you tried.

I found this a few years -- (not sure even where ... maybe even out of fictional novel....). Maybe it will help you.

“I love you. It’s none of my business what you think of me. It is none of my business. It’s my business what I think of you and I love you. Now if you happen to love me back, it’s a plus. So you can add to my life, but you can’t take away. Did you hear me? This is one of the greatest things that you ever did hear tell of. You can add to my life but you can’t take away, and everybody that lives can add to my life, but they can’t take away, because I’m not trading with you-I love you, period. because I know who you are, whether you do or not.
