"Too old to die young now".

Backstory

This is the chorus of a song by a guy called Brother Dege (AKA Dege Legg) -- taking that directly from album notes -- on the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's newest film Django Unchained. It just struck me as pretty profound in its cool simplicity, but also rather potent in how many people can accurately echo the statement. There's something else about this too though, something that I really like about its quality that I can't properly explain. It churns up images of famous classic rocker tragic endings, western gunslingers with something to prove, any martyr. I was listening to this song and got lost in the layers of associations--pleasantly adrift. I sorta wish that I had strung these words together myself first, but hey, wouldn't wanna take away the good Brother's credit.
