They shared stage, talked shared life.

Backstory

I had the privilege of listening to President Jimmy Carter and his wife of 66.5 years, Josalyn Carter, share tidbits from their life tonight. What an incredible pair they are! And when I say "shared stage", I mean they split the time almost evenly speaking to the crowd. They alternated, one spoke of their history as a couple, the other spoke of their time in the White House.

I enjoyed my "Evening With The Carters" very much. This might make me read ... shudder ... history!

Dragonflower says,

I looked at the picture without reading your backstory first. I recognized Rosalynn Carter first before I did the former president! Wow, married 66 years is amazing! I remember their daughter in the White House, Amy. She was just a little girl back then.

Nice you got to hear them speak. Thank you for sharing picture.

Honestly, his wife seemed she might be more formidable and definitely a politician. It was a very quiet but informative way to share a bit of history. The fact that do these things together says a lot.

Dragonflower says,

Rosalynn Carter did a lot of charitable work as First Lady, if I remember correctly. I always wondered what it was like to be married to the President of the US, or any politician for that matter. You would have to be pretty strong and self-assured. I didn't think of that back then, though. Just thought of her as nice. Sounds like she was a good support for her husband. I'm like you--this just might cause me to read a little history!

I had the privilege of hearing him speak at Carleton College in Minnesota a few years ago, and was absolutely struck by how grounded he seemed. And afterwards, I bought a book he wrote, An Hour Before Daylight, about his growing up years. I'll bet that -- as a couple -- they were absolutely incredible. Thanks for sharing!

the most moral President in our history
