Still working on "picking my dresses."

Backstory

Remember when the catch phrase "pick your stresses" hit the pop culture vernacular? My niece, then a pre-schooler, heard, and repeated, it differently. "Pick your dresses," she would say to her daddy when he was fretting over one thing and another, a pint-sized echo of her mother.

Her kid-speak became part of the family lexicon, and still is to this day, although she has long-since grown into a lovely young lady about to graduate high school. But her little girl logic makes so much sense to me: each day, we are faced with challenges, and how we handle them is up to us. Sporting the right attitude...or dress...can make all the difference.

Me too, H. One of my favorites from that niece is what she said when her brothers were infants. They are twins, and it seemed like there was always a baby fussing, so she was the back-up baby entertainer when her mom was busy with one. Her mom would often say, "please see what the baby needs" while she tended the other. Her answer, after she'd try pacifier, songs, stories, tickling, etc.: "he needs a mommy to pick up"...which became our catch phrase whenever anyone of any age was fussing, fretting, or just generally unhappy.

Dragonflower says,

I have needed a mommy to pick up all my life. I just never knew it before. Thanks ATs neice!
