I go with my sister and our friend. We're all moms, and our friend is also living with her husband's parents. For us, it's just nice to get out of the house and goof off. Last night, there were three cute little old men that were going back and forth with us. We each ended up singing a duet with one of them. My sister's husband says it's good for her to go out and get hit on occasionally so she knows he's not lying when he says she's beautiful. Our friend's husband says it's good for her to go out and get hit on so she knows how good she has it! My husband says if someone hits on me, to say, "Go away, you're ugly."
One way or the other, it's cheap, fun, and a night out.
I didn't see the appeal before I started going. Aside from these outings with my sister, I've only ever done karaoke one other time and I hated it. I think half the fun is coming from going to the same place every week and getting to know the regulars.
