It's 3.00 pm local time. About 30 minutes ago, Sydney achieved it's equal highest temperature on record- a stinking hot 45.3 degrees centigrade (113.5*F). The last time it was this hot was way back in 1939.
Part of at least one of the Mad Max movies was filmed at the Wanda sand dunes- which is a short distance away from where I live. I remember taking a stroll across the sand dunes and coming across a plane partly buried in the sand. Apparently they were preparing to shoot a scene or two from one of the Mad Max films and the plane was a prop.
That is complete misery. 113 degrees? It is 62 in my house right now and I was considering turning on my heater for a few (just to warm it up a little)...instead I'll be grateful, save a little energy and reduce my contribution to global warming by a micron.
It's maxed out at 114*F. It's nice and pleasant where I am next to the fan, but I certainly felt it when I stepped outside for a minute. God help the poor old firies working in these blast furnace-like conditions.
