Maybe because we're so convinced we must one-up everyone. Maybe because whispers and songs aren't as loud as cacophonous junk. Maybe because we'll say anything if it means we'll "get published" on a cable news show or on the Internet. Maybe because with all the voices readily able out her, we've forgotten how to listen. Maybe it's because it's just easier to say phrases like "God hates fags!" and "fuck you!" and the like than to look someone in the face and say "hello." Maybe it's because with all the words out there, we've forgotten the reality of words: that they truly are the most powerful weapon on Earth. Maybe it's because society has given in to the implosion of the self. I don't know for sure, but you bring up a good point, one that resonated in this 5-minute chunk of my life. And I think it's relevant. Very much. So much so that it needed more than a grammatically-incorrect phrase joining an already-full cul-de-sac of aphorisms and witty comebacks and meaningless "I hear ya"'s. Thanks for making me think; lord knows I needed to.
these six words leapt out from the sermon I heard in church this morning. Thanks Pastor Jodi. (I attend a Baptist church which has two lady ministers on the pastoral team.)We can live with peace and joy no matter...

Well put D.R. I believe we tend to just go with the flow without even questioning it. Thank you for your input.
