Why is that? I've been saying for years that Home Depot should cater to more women and have pink tools...because if you ever step foot in one of those places, there are usually more women than men shopping!
I feel like the manufacturers think women care more about it being "pretty" than what it can do. Much like girls and women ourselves are looked at by society. Gotta wear high heels, have long hair, long nails, wear make up to look good even though all those things in some way inhibit what we can DO.
Good point. I'm not into what society thinks about all the long hair, long nails, yadda, yadda, yadda. However, I do think that pink tools would inspire maybe more women to become do-it-yourselfers (that and I happen to love the color pink). Thanks for sharing marymc!
I've always said you don't need a penis to turn a screwdriver. :-)
I'm a do it your selfer.
I had a pink set of tools (screwdrivers, pliers, socket set, etc) when I worked at the hotel. I was the Admin Assistant to the Maintenance Department. Every now and then the tool set came in handy when the guys were busy. I didn't have the pink ones because I was a girl, but because I knew the guys wouldn't "borrow" my tools. :-)
I love pink tools and I don't give a happy rat's ass what society dictates. They're right though, for really serious, heavy-duty jobs, ya gotta get out the black, blue or gray stuff.
these six words leapt out from the sermon I heard in church this morning. Thanks Pastor Jodi. (I attend a Baptist church which has two lady ministers on the pastoral team.)We can live with peace and joy no matter...
