Perfectionist made shit happen. Blamed laxative.

Backstory

In that particular case (a nasty situation at work) I was the blamed laxative. I'm the biggest allergy to inflexible people. My transparency and free thinking are usually interpreted as me being 'flaky' by those who think that they know better than anyone else.

Boy do I feel this. At work, I am probably the laxative for people who say "can't" to everything. I am an educator -- how can anyone be a teacher and not think anything is possible? Creativity killers. They make school the place where imagination goes to die. Fortunately, there are very few where I work (it's an amazing school) but the ones that do think teachers like me are not "collegial" or that we're too connected to the kids.

Thank K822 you've added much of what I wanted to say - I work in college and I have amazing colleagues - but some of them aren't in touch with the real mission of our work: to unleash the possible. There's too much negative feedback and lack of trust in student's capacity and efforts.

I am also considered to be 'too' personal with some of my students. Funny enough, those are precisely the students who go the extra mile, because they feel valued, respected & acknowledged.

It is sad when they take your strengths and twist them into something ugly and unfair. When someone shines, there are those who experience jealousy. It happens in a lot of work places. Keep shining...

BanjoDan says,

That must be very frustrating, don't let them get to you!
