"Proud of you" never said enough.
Backstory
We say it to our children, when they win a ribbon, a game, a race. When they get good grades, behave well in public, are kind to one another.Today, one half of a blissfully happy sixer couple said it to her other half (no better, no lesser...they are equally amazing people), publicly...and I was touched.
Because someone said those words to me the other day as well...not publicly, but still...to ME....and I was taken aback...pleased, and surprised, and I had to think about how very long it had been since anyone had given me that kind of encouragement and validation.
For whatever else may be said, those words I will cherish.

I love the backstory - and you're so right, it is never said enough, especially to adults.
