Ah, it's all in the little details for me. Your memoir stirs memories of thin white no-shows with purple and raspberry hearts with matching purple trim on the cuff. Tried many a time getting them to pass for the mandatory "white gym sock" in Physical Education. Luckily they were mostly hidden by my Reebok Hi-Tops. Both lovely and possibly painful six!
