This week, Apple’s CEO resigned, rebels reached Tripoli, and the east coast shook and braced for Irene. The headlines reflected big news, and at SMITH the Six-Word Memoirs showcased news both big and small. But all deeply personal. Below are the best memoirs of the week; click on each author’s name to find more of their stories.

Timeliest Words: “Earth shrugs as reminder: She’s bigger.” -Level1
Best Simile: “Lovers like lobsters, picked for consumption.” -LittlePie
Sweetest: “My key will eventually become theirs.” -SeaGlass, with a great backstory

Best Labor of Love: “Pain births children, Olympians and writers.” -Kharisjo, with one of the most favorited memoirs this week
