Sometimes it starts to bug me that my obsession with personal storytelling can be so devoid of, well, other people. When I “favorite” a six-word memoir that makes me feel so close to the writer, I do it behind my macbook screen alone it my bedroom. So I always welcome an opportunity to hold a six-word slam or check out a great reading series. Combine that with my admiration for Emily Gould and my all-out love for Graphic Therapy artist Emily Steinberg, and I’m quite disappointed I won’t be in Philadelphia on Tuesday. If you will, don’t you dare miss this:

Spilling Your Guts
Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 7:30pm, Arts Bank, 601 South Broad Street, Philadelphia,PA

Depression. Drug use. Too much sex. Not enough. Our writers have spilled ink and guts about all of it. Join them as they share their recent writings and talk (candidly, of course!) about what happens when you make your life an open book.
