"Even a diaper is a blessing..."
BackstoryEvery time I say anything at all negative about being a mom or about my kids or kids in general there is some citizen who works for the Shaming Committee who shames me into mitigating with positivity as well. Maybe they even throw in a quote. Someone famous thinks children are the cat's meow. Toxoplasmosis and all.
Why is it not OK to just say: "Today was a shitty day to be a parent! My kids sucked my soul dry and if I could afford it, I'd check into a hospital and get IV fluids so I could sleep for three days straight to revive myself."?
Of course I say positive things too. But I just wish it were OK to be honest and not oh so lovey dovey even-a-daiper-is-a-blessing perfect.
