Mother’s DNA’s a specter, always looming.
Backstory
My mother was diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic when I was a young girl.Growing up with her was a constant test to sanity.
At 13 I thought foster care would be safer, it turned out to be a probable “toss up”.
As the years progress the likelihood decreases that I will be affected and when my daughter entered her 20’s with out too much "craziness" it was a relief.
Eventually I’ll have grandchildren.
This was inspired by marymc’s question “Alzheimer's. Would you want to know?”
Oh the "splendid" things we potentially pass to our children ;-)

And sometimes we don't even know the content of the genetic pool ...ba_miracle says,
Ohh I'm aware of some of the other content, don't even want to dip my toe in that pool today. Of course I do try to assume that my father and his entire family was of perfect health so it balances out a bit;-)Maybe our children's children will have some of these unfortunate conditions worked out.

Some big stuff looming. Rich but scary memoir.lillybrook says,
ba_miracle - the good news is that -- at this point -- the odds are in your favor. Very impactful memoir.
