"Even a diaper is a blessing..."

Backstory

Every time I say anything at all negative about being a mom or about my kids or kids in general there is some citizen who works for the Shaming Committee who shames me into mitigating with positivity as well. Maybe they even throw in a quote. Someone famous thinks children are the cat's meow. Toxoplasmosis and all.

Why is it not OK to just say: "Today was a shitty day to be a parent! My kids sucked my soul dry and if I could afford it, I'd check into a hospital and get IV fluids so I could sleep for three days straight to revive myself."?

Of course I say positive things too. But I just wish it were OK to be honest and not oh so lovey dovey even-a-daiper-is-a-blessing perfect.

Believe says,

The better you parent the harder it is.

Yes - motherhood is the hardest job in the world. Does it help to say, "Today was a shitty day to be a parent?" If it does, then maybe you just need to say it -- shamers be damned.

Fabulous backstory! I promise, we all have had days as a parent where we felt completely spent.
