She sacrificed more than we appreciated.

Backstory

When I was a kid, my mom tended to make bad decisions when it came to her relationships. For a time, I thought these bad choices directed my life. As an adult, I came to terms with her imperfections. As a parent, I have come to realize that she made far more decisions for my good than she did that led to harm. She went without, worked nights, dealt with depression in a manner that had the least impact upon her children. Good and bad came together in one package, and she loved us no matter what. An eminently useful life lesson, that.
