Is this your new guy? Are you his girlfriend? Good to be a little cautious, but fun to be excited about a new relationship. Especially at Springtime! Just continue to be your wonderful, smart, level-headed self, Layne. Oh, and, of course, your fun self too!
Thank you as always DE:) yes this is my new friend and yes I am his girlfriend (still sounds a little weird:) it really hasn't been a lot of time since we've met so this is really fast but I decided to just go for it for once. He's great really and I think we could make some great memories together, it's just been a little since I've done this type of thing and the last time left some tough memories. The overachiever in me has all these doubts, but I have doubts with everything. I'm trying to ignore them and just have a little fun, they're just speaking a little loudly in my head right now
Well, listen to the doubts that keep you safe and whole and respected. For the rest, have a good time. It is nice to be with someone who cares about you. And calls you and stuff to and how your day is going. The parent in me wants to make sure your parents approve. But the friend in me knows you wouldn't do anything not in your best interest. You are too wise and smart for that! Remain true to yourself. Best wishes for a soul enriching experience for however long it lasts! (hopefully long time).
You gave me a good lesson. You had to go out and stretch yourself to meet someone nice. (ie: go to the school dance you don't usually go to). !!
I must do the same if I'm ever going to meet someone! :)
Um, stretch myself I mean. Not go to a school dance! haha.
Mid fifties, married thirty years. My husband has sweetly asked me to try to outlive him, because he doesn't want to face life alone.
His odds are pretty good. Both our mothers (still living!) outlived our fathers. And our grandmothers...

Congrats, Layne - new relationships are exciting. Let yourself lean in to this. It's good to protect yourself, but let go, too. Enjoy it!Layne says,
