Which concert is it?
Before I graduated from high school, I drove my friend and I to see Neil Diamond in concert. Hot August Nights. Greek Theater. He was a big deal back then. He still is a big deal to me. I'm amazed that I did this. My car wasn't the best, I'm not even sure it had seatbelts (not a law yet). I just got my license, the concert was in Los Angeles and about 90 miles from where we lived. It was at night. I had to drive the freeways. And then, check this out, after all that, I was too shy to go backstage and get his autograph! My friend did though. I just waited for her. One of my best high school memories, even though now, as an adult and a parent, I think--ohmygoodness, what a risk!! How did my father allow this? How did my friend's parents allow this? Somebody must have trusted me, big time! Or, they didn't care so much what we did as long as we didn't get in trouble. Mainly, it was just different in those days. Car safety issues notwithstanding, it was just safer. But, maybe that's my denial speaking!! :)
That sounds absolutely incredible!!! I only hope for memories like that! This was a Dave Matthews band concert dvd that I watched with my uh, new friend:) probably the most perfect memory I've made so far. It was similar to that underwater, nobody can bother you feeling. Only this time I wasn't alone, I had company, but we were one:)
Nice! Love Dave Matthews. I am glad you are having a good time with your new friend. Make sure he treats you like the special person you are! Accept nothing less. Is he a sports guy too?
ps, glad you liked my story. Neil Diamond had lots of hair in those days! He was always a rather rough guitar player, who broke a lot of strings! And hearts! I had big time crush on him. Still do. He decently remarried a 53ish woman and I went, hey, that could have been me! Never in the right place at the right time! haha :)
Haha I think everyone needs a celebrity crush on a singer!:) this boy actually isn't into sports really, which makes it interesting that we click so well. A lot like me I guess, overachiever, finding fun in the little things type of person:) he's a year older which makes some people kind of wary, but he is a sweetie really. And id like to think pretty harmless:)
Sounds like a good person for you. A year older isn't so bad. You are pretty mature for your age, so you might need to hang with a little bit older group of friends once in a while. I understand the concern though, although I am certain you will use your good judgement on whether he really is a sweetie. I hope you are able to just have easy, good times together. It is nice to have a fun companion who shares your same values.
Mid fifties, married thirty years. My husband has sweetly asked me to try to outlive him, because he doesn't want to face life alone.
His odds are pretty good. Both our mothers (still living!) outlived our fathers. And our grandmothers...
