Absolutely. Sitting at his side many a day or night writing and reading memoirs got me through a rough journey. In addition, I suddenly have his friends and my friends stepping in to fill the crater. I admit, life was James and I against the world. Now I have to venture out into that world. Suddenly, I am seeing I will have bits of James, in our network/"village" of amazing friends.
Mid fifties, married thirty years. My husband has sweetly asked me to try to outlive him, because he doesn't want to face life alone.
His odds are pretty good. Both our mothers (still living!) outlived our fathers. And our grandmothers...
