I would love to have a dog, but just don't think I could handle all the responsibility. That's why I like to petsit. I live in a town where people walk their dogs down by the beach; love to go down and watch them. (btw, I changed my screen name from Autumn22 today).
Lots of responsibility, yes. I got him as a puppy, house trained him, did puppy training with him, and he gets me out every day. I took him on with my eyes wide open and knew what I was signing up for ... He's my boy:-)
Ah, sweet. My daughter has a beagle that she got as a puppy. I petsit him and love taking him for a walk. He is so loving and good to me when I visit. I just want to hug him to pieces. His name is Van. Maybe down the road, I'll feel better about taking on the day-to-day responsibility. It gets lonely sometimes by yourself, so I'd enjoy the company, I know. And how happy they are to see you! That's what gets me about Van. He's overjoyed when I come back from an errand.
Mid fifties, married thirty years. My husband has sweetly asked me to try to outlive him, because he doesn't want to face life alone.
His odds are pretty good. Both our mothers (still living!) outlived our fathers. And our grandmothers...
