Oncology check-in nurse cried with us.

Backstory

We used to be "rock stars" at the Oncology office. I would bike over 65 miles round-trip for my check-ups. That is one cheerful sight in an Oncology office. They would put my bicycle behind the desk while I checked in for my appt. James would drive up and meet me because he hadn't fully recovered yet. We had our appointments back-to-back so we could be together at both appointments. Then James kept getting worse while I improved. Seeing him today, so frail and weak, with me in tears after the discussions about scans showing the cancer advancing, upset more than one member of the staff. The cheerful check-in lady looked on as James struggled with his cruthes to get to a chair to lay down while I got the car. They were all cheering for us to belt out another song. They didn't know we changed our tune, to violins.

Dragonflower says,

I am so, so, so sorry to read your memoir, and story. I am crying too. It is just so very sad, and so very unfair, and ...I'm just sorry.

I'm tring to stay up until midnight, watching my favorite show, The O.C. I love Ryan and there is a great NYE episode. I used to live in Irvine when it was called Orange County, not the O.C. So I feel close to you in more ways than one. You know my ex is very sick. He got an infection at Thanksgiving and was hospitalized for several weeks. It is so hard not knowing where the disease will take its next turn. I feel your pain, your anger, your tears, but mostly I feel the love you have for James and it will sustain you both through this. That is one of Love's most agonizing roles, but Love is strong and will be there for you. For both of you.

Take good care. My thoughts are with you, always.

Life is so unfair, DD. I'd happily give you one of my good days if I could. Many hugs being sent your way.

accidentaltourist says,

If only our tears could rinse away the hurts. I am sad for you and James, and I know that all the words in the world won't change life's path...but know that we stand behind you, and will do our best to hold you up.

Mourningdove says,

I think about you and James often. Praying for moments of happiness, between your reality. ((HUG))
