I would give up a day.

Backstory

Have you ever heard of this? People who are suffering major illness themselves, or have a loved one who is, and haved exhausted all of their employment sick/personal time but still need time off? Co-workers gather around, and give up their vaction/sick/personal time, give it as a gift to the one in need, so that person can heal or care for a loved one. It's a beautiful thing, and it makes my heart glad to know that people are that selfless.

Today I was wondering this: if it were possible to do so, who among us would give up one day of their own life, shave one day off their own span on this earth, so that someone they know, someone whose time is being cruelly cut short, could have one MORE day.

I'd like to believe that I would. Would you?

It is a wonderful idea. I would like to think I'd be in that group, too.

I would give up days of my life to extend James' life.

D, for you, I wrote this memoir. It is for you and James that I wish that I could give days.
