For some strange reason, I love this memoir. This is probably one of those memoirs that will stick in my head. On the other hand, it's so sad. Cyber hug to you DD.
I love it, too. At least I get to go on a date with him. Location doesn't matter. I may not have many dates left with him. I expected at least 35 more years with him as his grandmother was almost 100 when she died. His dad turns 80 soon, he bikes 40 miles, slalom water skis, golfs and plays singles tennis 3 times a week. He is fit and ripped.
Date nights are awesome. It is especially important to have them when it seems difficult or impossible to have them. This memoir is proof that the two of you are wise when it comes to romance.
So nice to read this. I had 2 major abdominal surgeries for colon cancer & went through several months of chemo. My supposed girlfriend of many years lives blocks away from the hospital and never visited me once. Not on single time. Bless you both- healing energies inbound from a fellow traveler.
Mike that makes me so sad and disappointed. I can't imagine going through anything this difficult without someone you love at your side. He is too run-down for visitors, so my daily visits are everything to him (and me). I hope you find someone worthy of your love and who is with you in sickness and health. James had colorectal cancer which has spread to his bone. Consider yourself lucky if you have not had a return of this dreaded disease.
Thank You DD. I'm fine now- healthy & in love w/ a fine, dear woman now. Much more appreciative of it in light of what was. My prayers out to James and to you- bless you for being there for him. Remember to look after yourself as well. Very best, m.
Mid fifties, married thirty years. My husband has sweetly asked me to try to outlive him, because he doesn't want to face life alone.
His odds are pretty good. Both our mothers (still living!) outlived our fathers. And our grandmothers...
