its been a long journey, spent many years coming to terms with my childhood, mental illness, cancer, depressions, autistic son and marriage problems(and I work in health!) In my job I often meet people who have had sudden health changes or lost a partner, and it reminds you to appreciate what you have and live for now. As a Christian, G-d's love is very real and has got me through. And the furry four-legged darlings are the best therapy!
Mid fifties, married thirty years. My husband has sweetly asked me to try to outlive him, because he doesn't want to face life alone.
His odds are pretty good. Both our mothers (still living!) outlived our fathers. And our grandmothers...
