Backstory
Early in our relationship, we were the classic, "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus." I remember getting into an "emotional discussion" and feeling frustrated when James would disappear and not try and talk about it. I would hear him tinkering in the garage, fixing something on my bike. After reading the book mentioned, I got him. He was making up with me. Today, he bought me new tires for my road bike after I had problems with my tires yesterday. No fight or anything. I started crying because he was so lovingly upgrading my bike. While he was working on my bike I felt a profound feeling of love and I remembered the early days when I didn't understand how he loves me.

Isn't it great how many ways love finds to express itself?canadafreeze says,
Not everyone expresses themselves easily or in the same way. Doesn't that make like more interesting? Nice memoir, DD.MO_Thoughts2 says,
Great memoir. The many languages of love. :-)maryjane31 says,
A few days ago my kitchen waste disposal jammed and I thought it was broken for good and we only had it two years. I called my husband in a panic as I always do when things break and I feel helpless. He came into the kitchen and got a tool and unjammed it in 5 minutes and it is as good as new. I fell madly in love with him again and thanked him and he said kiss me fool!!! So I did. He is such a good guy you have no idea. He puts up with emotional me all these years and can fix anything. Makes me always remember why I fell in love with him. He is cool, calm, and collected always and I'm not.DynamicDbytheC says,
MJ, sounds like you have one like mine. I am a sucker for a man with a tool belt. MO, CD, Dean it is nice when one understands the different expressions of love. I got emotional thinking about what the cancer may do to him and little things seem bigger these days.BananaPancakes1 says,
