I had a boyfriend in high school who would have liked a chance with my mom. I think he liked her more than me. He would sit and talk with her for hours after I snuck out the back door when he showed up (toward the end of our relationship, but I don't think he noticed it was ending. So these type of scenarios are quite possible.
