I just love it when sixes take on a life of their own, and can mean so many different things. Writing this, I was thinking about myself, knocking on someone's door who wasn't interested in my love for them. The result of this unrequited love has been a locking up of my own heart, so that if Love were to come calling, I might pretend to not be home. Not wanting to risk getting hurt again and so forth.
Surprisingly, today I bought myself a beautifully artistic framed photograph by a local artist called "The Entrance." It is of an old door, with an old timey door knob and latch. It just called out to me. I didn't equate it with my memoir until I got home tonight and read both comments from JAD and CF. Here's to a new year, with an open heart, a different door, and more joy! :)
Mid fifties, married thirty years. My husband has sweetly asked me to try to outlive him, because he doesn't want to face life alone.
His odds are pretty good. Both our mothers (still living!) outlived our fathers. And our grandmothers...
