Dragonflower says,

If you can, transform it into something wonderful for yourself. Embrace it. Wear something colorful that makes people smile. Your mom had it right about your ex probably regretting his actions and losing you. You are such a sweet, wonderful person.

Here's an early valentine for you. (imagine giant red heart here!) It says, "You are the Best, Remember that."

I know how you feel, though. Spent many years of dreading the day. Sometimes I wanted to call in sick because the work ladies were so show offey with their flowers and balloons...ugh. But, you can turn it around. I hope you do. !!

maryjane31 says,

I'll bet most of those ladies sent the flowers and balloons to themselves!

Dragonflower says,

Yes, they probably did, or threw a nanohissy so their bf or husband had to in order to keep peace. See, Hannahmo, nothing to dread! It can be fun day, once you realize it's mostly smoke and mirrors. : )

Hannahmo says,

Thanks guys. Maybe I will have a better Valentine's Day this year. :)

maryjane31 says,

Remember it is just a day on the calender. It will be over very quickly. I have felt that way when the boy I liked in High School asked another girl to the prom when I had wanted to go with him. My friends all said to me " it will be over soon and then it is history." Today I wonder seriously what I even liked about him.

Hannahmo says,

The thing I hate about my high school is that a couple days before Valentine's day, the kids in student council set up a carnation stand by the cafeteria. Guys (girls too but mainly guys) can pay a dollar to send one with a message to the girl they like. I've never gotten one. :/

Dragonflower says,

We had that too in hs. And that was.....wait I need the calculator.....years ago. I hated that! Then, get this, I worked at a community college and the staff group (like student council), set up a balloon delivery, also by the cafeteria! You could buy balloons and send them to people around campus.

So ok, now I'm retired, and I go to Bingo today with a neighbor, just for fun. Quess what they had as you walked in the door????

Sigh.
