I offered companionship, she wanted commitment

Backstory

Life can be full of incongruity and ironies. The woman I was seeing until recently wanted commitment and I could only offer her companionship which ironically is what happened in the previous relationship where I wanted commitment and she wanted companionship. Time to see the shrink.

Commitment is one of those words that make me cringe. Too closely related to prisons and institutions.

Some of us unfortunately ar recidivists

Wench says,

After ending a bad relationship, I wasn't looking for anything long-term or serious, when I started spending time with a guy. So we weren't officially dating, even though we spent all of our time together and slept in the same bed almost every night. Ironically, once I was ready to date and we were officially a couple, he started cheating constantly. Sometimes people's wants conflict with what they're capable of, I guess, and sometimes, as much as it hurts, it's just not the right match.
