Most times we don't know when it will be our last time together. Or our last holiday, etc. When we do, it makes it so much more poignant. I'm reminded of a line from Out of Africa where Meryl Streep speaks in overvoice the eloquent words of Isak Dinesen, "Perhaps he knew, as I did not. that the earth was made round so that we would not see too far down the road." I know you have great strength and a terrific sense of humor because of your comments to my memoirs. These traits will serve you well as you are forced to see down the road farther than you would like. Best wishes to you and your loved one on this Thanksgiving day.
