Still wearing the skin he touched.

Backstory

The comments that appeared with this when I first posted it don't reflect the inspiration behind this six. I was not prepared to tell the story then, so I let it go. I played on the thought that was planted by a commentor, and went for the giggle.

Now, I am reposting and adding the backstory, for anyone who may see it and remember it from before.

So many of us share the same history...the murky figures in our younger lives, who took liberties they should not take with children. As adults, we believe we have buried those demons long away, have moved on, healed, overcome.

But we still wear that skin. And it is forever scarred.

No words ...

Amapola says,

So sorry you went through something as awful as that.

ba_miracle says,

Sometimes those scars heal in amazing ways. I've had the unfortunate experience (too many times). I've had to make a difficult decision turning someone I loved in which was a really hard time (although I was never going to "chose" to do it any other way.)

If it's any consolation you have likely shed that skin years ago.

Thanks, miracle...for so much.

I was going to favorite this until I read the back story. I too was molested as a child. I like what ba_miracle says, you have likely shed that skin years ago. I hope you can exfoliate some of the pain. Holding onto hurt only hurts ourselves.

My horror was a family member...

bruises will heal..scars not so much.

I admire you for putting this up

Dragonflower says,

I never thought of it like this before. No wonder.....well, no wonder for so many things. I like the idea that survivors have most likely shed that skin. But it could also be that an annual exfoliation is necessary until it is not needed anymore. You are very brave to post this again with such a graceful and eloquent backstory. Thank you.
