Perhaps. Speaking from experience ... I think you need to take some time to NOT be in a relationship. Find out who you are, what you want, understand what is and is not acceptable, explore your dreams and create friendships not relationships.

BecomingLogyn says,

That's kinda what I've planned on doing... I honestly don't need to be in a relationship right now and probably shouldn't be in one either.

accidentaltourist says,

Bad relationships...and by that definition, I mean the ones that are full of drama and hurt, and seem destined to crash and burn in the most painful way possible....appear to feed a need in us that is not easily understoond, and definitely not in our best interests.

Take care of YOU first.....love should not be hard. Just because it's cliche doesn't mean it isn't true.

b.dale says,

I second self love, or better put "self care." I am probably old enough to be your parent; and have been there done that with relationships. Maybe, find out what interests and hobbies you have and work on making yourself happy as possible. If your lonely, maybe put yourself around animals, or being in nature. Both fill the need for intimate relationships when we are working on learning who we are. I believe I have the best room mates for me. Two dogs and a cat. Mahalo!

BecomingLogyn says,

I'm learning (very, very slowly) that I need to take care of myself and learn to like myself before I can expect anyone else to treat me any better than they have.

KharisJo says,

You are a human being with dignity and worth and you're worthy of love and respect. (from another post) Don't allow anyone to hit you or put you down. People who do so have only self-interest in mind, not anyone else's. Good relationships involve each person caring for the other, and themselves, in positive ways. Many blessings to you :)
