New love can help healing, definitely... It's not easy to be damaged like you describe. It took me long to let go of my pain after I was raped - but it was loving myself and welcoming the love from others what brought me forward. I hope your new love is kind and gentle to you.

Mid fifties, married thirty years. My husband has sweetly asked me to try to outlive him, because he doesn't want to face life alone.
His odds are pretty good. Both our mothers (still living!) outlived our fathers. And our grandmothers...
