Magazine fashion cities. What to wear?
BackstoryI was sitting under the heat lamps, getting my hair un-grayed, and was looking through the fashion magazines. One had an article on how different cities around the world dress. Like some cities are more casual, some are urban chic, ect. What amazed me was the price of the outfit, once you added it all up. Like $200 for a top, $600 for a skirt and so on. I have never in my life stepped out of the house wearing $1,000 worth of clothes. I don't think I could. Could you? (money not so much the issue, as the idea of it--how can a tee cost $200?)
One of my pleasures is to look at Coach bags online and read the reviews. I could never buy one because of the leather thing and where they are manufactured, but something about them still calls to me...some of the reviews talk about how they own several bags. Some have the same bag in different colors and some buy the bag and matching wallet. These women are so blase about it, like it is nothing to spend thousands of dollars a season on accessories. Sometimes I wish I could be like that, but I am too practical. I'd never make a good celebrity! I'm still trying to work up to ATs tip #1 about sheer blouses and camisoles. Saw a sheer blouse at Kohls for $30 the other day. Considering it.
So is it true? Does where you live determine the fashion sense and how much seems "normal" for clothes? Does a $200 tee fit, wear better than a $40 one? What do you think?
