I've got a friend whose husband spent a month and a half on a just-because road trip last fall. Now he's spending three weeks on the other side of the country while she packs their house to move in March. As soon as he gets home, she's going to Istanbul for Spring Break. I feel weird saying anything about it to them - if it's working, more power to them. But for me, it feels unfathomably strange.
Barring some really necessary circumstance, I can't imagine spending a week away from my husband. Every now and then I enjoy a few hours or a day, sometimes a day and a half. A week? Personally, I wouldn't like it.
We've been married 5 1/2 years. Dated long distance for 8 years before that. He's visiting his folks in FL. I have ZERO desire to sit in a tiny condo and listen to her shit 24/7. Love my hubby, but this is one trip he has to take alone.
Enjoy the silence and the simplicity of it, then enjoy the renewal of affection upon seeing him again.

I'm ok with it. But I've lived alone for a long time. I might feel different when someone sweeps me off my feet in the near future!marymc says,
