Loon says,

yup

Wench says,

My vote is no. Regardless of your political affiliation (or lack thereof), the Oscars are about filmmakers honoring filmmakers. The president's wife didn't belong there. As one of the thirteen people left in the country who doesn't think Obama is God's gift to - anything - this completely ruined the night for me. I've been alienated for my political beliefs during political campaigns and elections, class discussions, family arguments, do I really need to be alienated while watching the winner for best film of the year in my living room? Wow.

Wench says,

Although I am obviously upset because I'm not a fan of Obama, I'm also upset because she just didn't belong there, as someone who is completely unaffiliated with filmmaking and as the President's wife. I'd have the same opinion if a Republican were in office, or even poor Ron Paul, for God's sake.

accidentaltourist says,

I missed seeing her...and I'm okay with that.

Bevvie says,

I second Loon's "yup."

Wench says,

Loon and Bevvie, do you mind if I ask why? I'm genuinely curious.

marymc says,

No. I am tired of seeing her on every talk show. I'm tired of her bangs. I'm tired of the OMG! It's MICHELLE!!! Just go away.

favepeep says,

Although I thought it was an interesting/odd choice, I'm assuming since Obama can't be re-elected for a third term, she/the White House figured, what the H. Whether or not it's appropriate--it's not my call--if the Academy wanted her, they must have thought so.

In any case, I was more concerned about the song, "We Saw Your Boobs," which I thought was extremely degrading to women. Yeah, I know it's the woman’s choice to appear nude, though I’m sure more than a few are pressured into it, but I still thought the song was crass and out of line.

maryjane31 says,

I don't like her anyway so I felt she should not have been there.

L2L3 says,

6th grade; the perpetual lowest common denominator.

Wench says,

Yup.
