marymc says,

I used to bite my nails, smoke and binge eat.

ba_miracle says,

So many! I have even created good ones. It has been said that it takes 21 days to make/break a habit.

Dragonflower says,

Yes, so many, like ba_miracle says. The most recent one was to stop saying negative things to myself. It took about a month of constant vigilance.

oopsalittle says,

Yes quite a few, but the hardest and the best was giving up smoking cold turkey.

jl333 says,

I gave up pasta for 8 days...and that was painful.

Dragonflower says,

Oh, how could I forget??!! I gave up butter. As a spread and in stuff. That was the hardest. I miss butter so much. There is no substitute. Butterlove.

accidentaltourist says,

Nail-biting. And thumb-sucking...and yes, I was old enough that I remember it.

Of course I probably should have kept the thumb...cheaper than the therapist. ;)

Hannahmo says,

Wow. I wish I could break my bad habit like you guys. Oh well. At least I'm trying and hopefully that counts for something. :)

Level1 says,

I'm am working on giving up nail bitings. This is a habit I have had for my whole life. I am getting better at it. I can go a couple of months at a time now with out biting them. Instead, I file them obsessively. It seems to be working.

TheAngstyPoet says,

Nail biting. Working on over- eating.

Dragonflower says,

hannahmo, just keeping trying. Habits are so hard to break! The negative self talk habit I just stopped? Took me my whole life to actually do it. Start, stop, start, stop....only now is it for real stopped.

When you are really ready, you'll be able to stop whatever it is you want to stop. :)

canadafreeze says,

Smoking, cold turkey. I was the hardest thing I've ever done. Never been sorry.
