Do you agree with retiring numbers?

Backstory

I personally think it's a silly idea. It's takes away the sense of privilege and honour a player might get from playing with the number of one of a club's greats on their back when that number is retired.

I'm biased. In Syracuse, NY, no one will ever wear #44. That's Ernie Davis' number. The movie "The Express" explains why.

Maybe they can go with decimals.

Sagacious says,

I know with the Sydney Swans Aussie Rules club, each individual locker has a jersey number with all the players who have worn that particular jersey printed on it. I hate the idea of the Swans, say, retiring #4 just because club legend Tony Lockett wore that number.
