Does the snow make noise falling?
Backstory
This California girl has never been anywhere when it was actually snowing. Tonight the sky is rumbling like it is going to rain here, which made me think of all the SMITH snow folks. Do you get woken up when it snows in the night? No eye rolling, OK? I have been IN snow, but never saw it fall, strange as that seems. And, in all my life, I have never wondered about this. Too busy tanning (just kidding. Sort of).

Yes. It does. I live in the country, and it's very quiet here. And when it snows, you can hear it. I have video proof. :)canadafreeze says,
There are so many different kinds of snow - big, fluffy flakes you want on Christmas Eve -silent. Today, we have wind so the snow is anything but silent. It's drifting up against the back door and on the roof - when it falls off the roof it makes a loud crashing sound because of the weight. Not happy with the snow today ... had to escort my puppy outside this morning - he wouldn't go on his own:-( AT actually answered your question - I just provided a little snow rant:-)Dragonflower says,
Thanks for the answers. I am surprised. The crashing noise off the roof would really upset me. Where I live, there is nothing to block the wind from my front door, so when it is windy and raining, it is like someone is outside just throwing buckets of water against my door. I never thought about snow actually being heavy. Sometimes (very, very rarely) it gets cold enough up in the hills for it to snow. Everyone gets excited and drives up. I never have. It doesn't last very long. Today it is sunny here, so sending you warm wishes for a good day!lisamoans says,

Trees fall over from too much snow on them?
