Backstory
I rarely get featured these days. Honestly, does my writing suck that badly?! Trawling through the Life category and trying to find any sixes posted by me is a pointless exercise. I'll get comments regardless of what the 'judges' seem to think.

I haven't been featured in a while either so no worries. But to answer your question, I read your memoirs all the time and even though I don't always comment on them, it's obvious you're a good writer. Your memoirs really reflect how philosophical you are. :)ctgoods2 says,
I agree with Hannahmo - she described my thoughts so aptly that I cannot add to her comment, but know that it's true.canadafreeze says,
What he said :-) I love reading your philosophical bent on life, Sag. In fact, you were one of the first memoirists whose name stuck in my brain - I think it was Sagfucious, or something close:-) I don't comment on every memoir - sometimes I love them and am silent. Being featured is a nice gesture, but I agree with hieronimo's statement about Smith providing a diverse view and featuring newcomers. I find the community spirit here is quite an extraordinary thing. That's one of the things that keeps me coming back. I was having a bad day today, posted a poor me six, and voile! I received some fun and loving' comments that lifted me out of the doldrums. You're brilliant, Sag.catsmeow says,
You are one of my favorites. I don't envy Larry the job of selecting sixes each day. And I think sometimes if we post very regularly he can feel safe ignoring us, knowing we will stick around as he encourages other less reliable writers.Sagacious says,
One of the curious things is that I usually don't check the featured memoirs because I've already read most of them while trawling the timeline. I also found it interesting that I couldn't spot either Dhani or Raised By Wolves in my check of Life. Maybe we've been placed in the sin-bin for real or imagined past misdemeanours. Who knows.Sagacious says,
I appreciate the support. I'm sure my writing isn't as bad as the judges seem to think. The last time I was featured was on 10 Nov., so my sixes have pretty much sucked since. Wolfy was last featured on Dec. 6, and Dhani is completely invisible.
The person I think you're referring to hieronimo re the squealing over not being featured does appear to be over-represented in the Featured Life timeline in recent months. No accusations of anything here, but it is curious.
One of the annoying things about not Featuring is that you get less comments, and that's a large part of the fun of being on here. Put another way, I'm getting less bang for my buck. But the supportive comments on this memoir so far have been more than encouraging. Thanks, all.

My issue isn't Memoir of the Day- they're as rare as hen's teeth. It's my absence from the Featured timeline that has me puzzled.jl333 says,
You're due for MOTD soon. Sit back, hold tight ...because it's coming. We enjoy all of your contributionsBanjoDan says,
I think new writers are often featured rather than the "best" memoirs but that is fine with me. I am glad new members are given encouragement for contributing.Dean6805 says,
Sag, I always read your Sixes, and always appreciate what you have to say.Dragonflower says,
I have been featured and I am a new writer to this site. It saddens me a little to hear that perhaps I've been featured just because I am new. I felt it was an honor because I shared company with all of you. And most everyone is so encouraging of each other, it is refreshing even without any features.I have started to comment less, and just favorite more. Sometimes I just like a memoir but have nothing more to say. Since Sag asked a direct question about his own memoirs, I want to say I've enjoyed them and like when you open up a little and let us in, Sag. I have trouble understanding some philosophical memoirs or comments as I am very literal. Sometimes I feel I may have commented and stepped on your toes, Sag, because I may not have understood properly or you might not have wanted a comment. If so, I apologize. I know you have stated in your comments that you are very selective about who you interact with. As a new person here, I am sensitive to that and respect it.
You always ask good questions that generate a lot of feedback. You got over the hundred comments on one that helped us all get to know one another better. I really appreciated that one. I was waiting for balloons to come down when you reached 100 comments. !!

Nothing wrong with your writing sag.Sagacious says,
My six word question still stands- who's toes have I trodden on? The most gratifying thing to come out of my little tirade have been the supportive comments. They beat anything a panel of nameless, faceless judges might think or say.Steve__Anthony says,
Sagacious, you are a rare talent: profound, insightful, literary and some times funny AND clever as hell. All and all I love your "stuff."Sagacious says,
Hey Stevo, have you ever thought of writing fiction? Seriously, if your sincere in what you're saying, then I'm gratified and encouraged. Looking forward to Wolfy appearing again on Featured Life after a long absence and Dhani perhaps getting a guernsey.accidentaltourist says,
I rarely get my toes stepped on, unless my partner is a really BAD dancer. Personally, I think you're fab, Sag. I have you bookmarked, as I do many others. I'm an equal opportunity cyber stalker.ba_miracle says,
Steve said it perfectly. You are one of the first Sixers to get me addicted Sagacious. Maybe send a six (or so) to the powers that be.
I thought the - say one thing about a sixer was fun.

Sag, I hope that the following comment doesn't step on your toes, but maybe my opinion will help in some way to answer your question. You are a pretty healthy contributor to smith. You six what you are thinking about. As of late (less than incredible memory at work here) if I had to pick what you six about in the life category I would say your living space, the weather, and sports. Not that there's a damn thing wrong with having common themes to your writing. God knows I have them, and I rarely stray from them. But maybe whoever is choosing features (not always Larry, btw) doesn't relate with those themes.
Furthermore, I recently visited your member page. I scrolled and read your personal timeline. I kept thinking to myself, "geez, how in the hell did I miss this one?" And then I realized what was going on. You write very differently in other categories than you do Life. You are more vulnerable. Your writing has this completely different feel when you open yourself up a little. I can't even say as to whether or not you are regularly featured in the other category that I am referring to or not, only can say that I saw you as a writer in a different light. And I thoroughly enjoyed reading your story.

I think it's fair to say I'm a Love specialist. :-)
