I can't think of a time that really matters to me, but this question made me think of one time when I (unintentionally) stole someone else's thunder. A friend came to have lunch with me to tell me she'd decided to leave her husband. We hadn't seen each other in a while, and I was 6 months pregnant at the time. She walked in, all ready for a conversation focused on her and her decision and her process... and then she saw my big, round belly, paused, and said, "Oh. You're pregnant." Then she didn't have much to say about the divorce.
I would've gladly listened, but I guess she felt that her long-in-coming bad news was sort of trumped by my surprise good news.
SMITH Magazine brings you an entirely new kind of six-word experience: Six-Word Questions. This is the place to pose a question to the SMITH community from, "What are your favorite Six-Word quotations" to challenging members to pen Six-Word Obituaries to the recently departed to Six-Word jokes and any other Six-Word question you can dream up. You can even request that the responses be in six words. Everyone has a question—what's yours?
