I've learned that if you can't forgive and forget, you can at least forgive and move on.
I've learned you become what you think about.
I've learned that homemade cookies are best eaten warm.
I've learned that even the simplest task can be meaningful if I do it in the right spirit.
I've learned that if you depend on others to make you happy, you'll be endlessly disappointed.
I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to throw something back.

Wench says,

- 'Everything happens for a reason' is a load of b.s. Everything can be used as an opportunity for growth and strength, if we choose to find those lessons, but some things have no 'bigger purpose'. They are just Bad Things.
- A good parent may not always feel like one. But they will do everything they can to protect their child. They may not even know that it's true until it becomes necessary.
- Love is an action. It requires maintenance, commitment and dedication. And it's worth it.
- Sometimes there actually is a light at the end of the tunnel.
- Getting is fun, but giving will always feel and be more rewarding.
- Some people leave your life for a reason. Don't hate them, don't hold anything against them. Just let them go.

marymc says,

• No matter how much time you spend with someone, when they die you'd give anything for 5 more minutes.

• Knowing when to stop is not the same as giving up.

• When life presents a wall, sometimes the best thing you can do is swing a sledgehammer.

• Never lose faith in what's important.

• Hugging a dog makes everything better.

• Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right.

-any animal can turn a bad day into a good day

Dragonflower says,

Never buy cheap paper towels.

When you let go of something, you have to really let go. You can't just say you are, while it is still entwined in your fingers, or held behind you back. You can't think about the thing (or person) you've let go of--at least not constantly. If you can't do this, then maybe you're not ready to let go of whatever it is. Maybe there is more lessons for you about it.

And when I say "you" I mean the global you, not anyone in particular--except maybe me. This has been my hardest lesson in life and I'm still not very good at it. Better than before, but not great.

I only have two things, but it feels like six.

lillybrook says,

This all sounds very true -- and very wise. What should I add?

- Be brave. The world is ready for you.
- Surprises are nearly always better than plans... BUT it's important to make plans, dream, and set goals.
- you influence people without trying; you can try as hard as you want to, but controlling others is an illusion (and not healthy)
- Accomplishment comes from caring deeply and working hard.
- sometimes letting go is the only thing you can do to hold on to what is truly important.
- At the end of life, you will not say you danced too much, laughed too much, or loved too much.

KharisJo says,

you can't change anyone else, but you can change how you respond to them.

admit your mistakes and apologise when you need to. It's a sign of strength, not weakness.

don't run away from trouble, but sometimes you need to quietly walk away.

thoughts become words become actions - make them positive. Talk up yourself, your marriage, your partner, your kids.

If you'll only settle for perfection, you'll be waiting a long time

Dogs make the best friends and cats are good at keeping secrets.

Undermom says,

Pay attention. It's all going to go by faster than you can possibly imagine.

Your life may not actually be better if you keep a positive attitude, but it sure will feel like it.

A day is never wasted when you've made a child smile. Laughter earns extra points.

Being dependable may be the greatest virtue of all.

Life is easier when you surround yourself with people who help you to feel big and strong and good.

It turns out that all the big things in life depend on how you handle the little things.

Believe says,

I will save ink here and ditto Wench's. I swear we share moods.

ctgoods2 says,

1. Everything I do affects someone somewhere.
2. Every experience contains a lesson.
3. Every lesson unlearned comes back for a repeat performance until I get it.
4. Real fear is created by real danger.
5. Sleep is very VERY important.
6. And most recently, strong does not mean without pain. ty unknown116.
