I only just learned the correct words in the lyrics. I always thought it said, "strumming my thing with his fingers." When I was a teenager I thought they were nasty lyrics. I didn't know what "thing" meant, but since everyone giggled, I thought it must be nasty. I even thought that with the Fugees version. I wouldn't let my daughter buy their CD because of it. Makes me laugh to think of it.
About Six-Word Questions
SMITH Magazine brings you an entirely new kind of six-word experience: Six-Word Questions. This is the place to pose a question to the SMITH community from, "What are your favorite Six-Word quotations" to challenging members to pen Six-Word Obituaries to the recently departed to Six-Word jokes and any other Six-Word question you can dream up. You can even request that the responses be in six words. Everyone has a question—what's yours?

Roberta but do love The Fugees version too.ba_miracle says,
I had a Lauryn hill version slowed, without the rap, and deeper boom (instead of stingy, tingy high hat drumbeat). It was quite sensual and moving.Dragonflower says,

Roberta, but I like the Fugees' version too actually.Dean6805 says,
Roberta always, but I must admit that I really like Laryn Hill's vocals on the Fugees' version. It's funky and catchy.JAD says,
Roberta for sure.marymc says,
Roberta. When it's done correctly the first time, it don't need redoing. Can you imagine American Pie or Born to Run? No.Bevvie says,
Roberta is leading right now!Dragonflower says,
