because sometimes you feel like you arent good enough for others.

Wench says,

I'm resentful of people assuming a certain level of friendship with me without any real affirmation. I don't like when people ask personal questions about my life. When people begin to behave as though we share a closeness that means I should be confiding in them, I usually back off. Those sort of trusting relationships develop naturally, they cannot be forced onto you.

I find some people annoying and Wench, I know what you mean. I also have had this experience with certain people.

People that try to be too familiar too soon make me very, VERY nervous. These are the same people who will continue badgering you till, inevitably, you blow up in their faces. Then comes the classic line "I was only trying to be friendly." Hmph! >:-(

marymc says,

I hear what you all are saying and co-sign. I had a business acquaintance ask me why I got divorced and I wanted to punch her in the throat. Never spoke much to her after that.
