SMITH has enriched my life. You?
Backstory
what aspect of the shared experience here at SMITH do you value most? when i first joined i was thinking of the writing aspect and the challenge of expressing myself within the limit of six words. what i've found is a true sense of community, and that's been a truly wonderful bonus! so many people here are brave (because they have to be just to get through their everyday lives) and yet solicitous of others. So tell us what you value most - no six word limit! :)p.s. thank you, larry!

I value the people here. I enjoy writing, I've even been able to write things here that I couldn't say elsewhere, but I've found I really actually care a great deal about all of you. It feels like a big family, where there are fights and disagreements but ultimately we all have each other's back.Level1 says,
Absolutely. I treasure finding a forum in which I could express thoughts not said aloud. Reading other's memoirs has been wonderfully inspiring. I am honored to be a member of such a stimulating community.JAD says,
When I found Smithmag I was new to the internet's social scene. Had never blogged , no chat rooms, no facebook or anything. Yes I did read the daily newspaper everyday and that's where I stumbled upon an article about SMITH. Since then it's been an uphill journey. Inspiring, joyful, uplifting, etc. I could go on and on. But the best part are the wonderful people I've met(some with no faces) through their words and how they have touched me in a special way. Sometimes I look at my hubby and say to myself(he doesn't know what he's missing:).canadafreeze says,
I love the anonymity. I can visit any time I like without fear of judgement. It is a perfect stage with an eclectic community of players.accidentaltourist says,
I have grown to appreciate being known intimately, without having to hide my warts, along with the sense of caring that is given purely for caring's sake, and not because there's obligation attached.jl333 says,
I feel like I can truly be myself on this sight. I love the sense of community that we all share. In fact, the first thing I do when I get home, is fire up the computer to be able to catch up on the memoirs that I missed while at work. Like JAD, I've never blogged, did chat rooms, or facebook. I'm so thankful that I read about this sight in a magazine. It's changed my life for sure. Much happier now that I don't keep everything bottled up.MsKillie says,
The honesty and support of Smith has been wonderful! With such a busy schedule, I love the fact that I can hop on, dump my daily thoughts and randomly get published. Writing for Smith has helped me form many ideas for my memoir and been the subject of many fun conservations through out the years.
