Dean6805 says,

Water, canned food, dry goods, water purifier/purification pellets, a rifle for hunting and a shotgun for personal protection, various knives, a machete, building tools, fire starter... for starters.

accidentaltourist says,

Books and some really good wine. I'm a grasshopper....we never think about preparation for the apocalypse.

marymc says,

Books, scotch and dog food.

Dean6805 says,

AT, if the apocalypse happened today, my shelter would most likely contain a couple bottles of water, a few knives, my .40 semiauto, all of our camping gear and us. We'd hope for the best, because I'm nowhere near as prepared to "bug out" as I should be.

accidentaltourist says,

I will admit to defensive weapons, but personally I am woefully under-skilled in that department. I'm pretty good with a corkscrew, though. :)

Wench says,

Sealed 100-gallon drums of rice and dried beans, multiple rain barrels, all the rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, bandages, toothpaste, baking soda and soap I could wrangle, a good bow and arrow, a shotgun, a rifle, a pistol, a ton of ammo, and my husband and son. And I'd have someone posted outside to guard our garden.

Wench says,

We are really in a pretty good place in the event of an EMP, or end-of-the-world type event. Our house was even originally designed to be a smokehouse, almost 300 years ago! It would need to be fortified though. We actually spend a decent amount of time talking about what we'd do. Kind of fun/exciting to think about.

Wench says,

I always say that if the zombie apocalypse ever happens, I'm going to Home Depot, sealing off the entrances and building a greenhouse on the roof. You could house dozens of families and feed them, too. You could even build them little homes inside the building. And you'd have all of the necessary tools and supplies.

accidentaltourist says,

Wench....I'm totally stealing that idea. But I'm bringing wine. And costumes.

Bevvie says,

I'm stealing Wench's idea too. And the wine is a good idea too! And margaritas! If the Home Depots are full, I'll go to Lowe's.

Bevvie says,

I think even a Wal-Mart or K- mart will do in a pinch!

Wench says,

Definitely, and they'd have clothes and bedding. But a Home Depot has cement for sealing the entrance.

MsKillie says,

I think I should be friends with Wench- you think like me! I live near a Cabala's and my boys and I plan on taking it over at the first sign of zombies. We also have plans for fencing in my parents house (or The Compound as we call it!).
I also plan on having a fully-stocked Airstream for quick getaways- just try to get in my metal camper zombies and crazies! Canned beans -My boys may get sick of them, but this mama can work magic with beans. My dude is in charge of weapons and I'm in charge of food and first aid. We are already getting ready, you never know...

Wench says,

Oh, also, salt. As much salt as we could get our hands on. There is a great book out, either "One Minute After" or "One Second After." It's about our world after an EMP. Makes you think.

Bevvie says,

Wench and MsMins, please put out a book for us!

ba_miracle says,

Provisions (they actually sell medical kits and high calorie "food stuffs"), basic tools, duct tape ;-),weapons, lots of amo and one ticked off chick if the internet is down and chocolate no longer exists.
Books, pen and paper.
How I would react really depends on whether I have loved ones to protect or not.

Antibiotics would be really great to have on hand in large supply.

Mourningdove says,

teotwawki. the end of the world as we know it. Got my husband a book about it.

Mourningdove says,

bohemdeb says,

Condiments that go well with human homeless faces...
