My quick answer is no. The unabridged answer is: one would think that it would behoove the participants to consider the reason they are no longer lovers in the first place. Chances are that neither of them have changed all that much - as people generally don't. If, however, they have both seen extensive counseling and have grown personally while they were apart, it's anyone's guess.
My instinct as well, Dean. What didn't work the first time is likely still going to be there. As much as you love what you did, you will still hate what you did.
Never works and I can't imagine ever going back to someone I once kicked out of my life (or vice versa). I've found that people who go back to old lovers don't have any self-esteem, pride, or independance.
