I have traveled the East Coast extensively, and been west as far as Texas, and thousands of times I have stopped in my tracks....in the deep forests of the northeast, on the steamy southern beaches, in the rolling hills of mid-Atlantic horse country....looked around, and said, "gosh, it's gorgeous here."
Florida is my favorite. The beaches are breathtaking and Free! They have beautiful white sand that does not burn your feet. In New Jersey the beaches are awful and have waste products washing up. You have to pay to go on those beaches which is awful as beaches should be free to everyone.
@at, your descriptions sound beautiful and I love Robert Frost's poetry so would definitely visit Vermont; Dean, no place like home.Tennesee makes me think of banjos. mj, Florida sounds lovely and I couldn;t imagine paying to go to the beach.
Maine is beautiful but too cold. Florida is beautiful but too hot. I've always wanted to see Oregon and Arizona, but for now, I'll say Pennsylvania. It's my state and it's where our nation began.
All my mother's relatives came from Narberth, Pa. My cousins are still in that area. We moved over to NJ and when retired to Florida. I know exactly where Reading is.
California...surf, ski, big cities and small historical towns like San Juan Bautista, farmland, orchards, vineyards, national parks. Florida was beautiful in January, South Carolina is nice in April and October but I'm homesick for California...even if the ocean is freezin cold.
I live in California and ditto to the above statements. I like Utah for snowboarding, Park City. I think Colorado is high on my list and it its the healthiest and leanest state.
I lived in Central PA for the first 23 years of my life, bounced through five other states and have been in CT for almost 21. PA is always my favorite, but CT has alot of beautiful sights to behold, for such a small state.
Minnesota is where I'm from, so I have to pick where my heart is! Besides, "Prince lives here, we got 10,000 lakes!" (Check out the song Shhhhh by Atmosphere for a perfect description of why MN is so darn awesome.) With that being said, I'm moving to Arizona in a few years- hey 30+ years of dealing with sub-zero winters is enough...
Lev, you're right, Niagara would be one kick-ass sight. sincerely, why not Mississippi? MsMins, now I know where the name comes from. Nobody has claimed Hawaii or Alaska - Hawaii....ngh- Australia has far better beaches- but Alaska I think would be magnificent.
Utah - hiked many of the national parks - Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, Arches...also, has funky, artsy little towns like Moab. It caught me by surprise.

As an Aussie I would happily visit anywhere, but if I had to choose just one, I think Maine with its rugged coastline and lighthouses looks beautiful.accidentaltourist says,

I'd have to say that my favorite state is the one in which I reside, Alabama. Tennesee is a close second.maryjane31 says,
