I've asked that question, too, but decided that there are all sorts of love, and no matter what song you say doesn't involve it somehow does. Maybe it's teaching us to love one another.
I just don't understand why all songs have to be about being in love, breaking up, unrequited love, etc. There are other, important, things in the world that could be made into a song people could relate to. I mean there's plenty of times when I want to listen to a song that'll match my mood and I can't find one.
Love is relatable and easy to write about. Love evokes a bounty of emotions thus simplifying the writing process by providing many many directions in which to go.
Most songs are about love but some are about war, hope, fear, values, never giving up, motivational songs, friendship, "circle of life," beauty of life, loving kindness, meaning of life, cars, traveling, eating, and of course, cheese.
there are a few noteable exceptions - I like Pink Floyd's "Money" e.g.- but I guess we all remember the good times and people we've loved and the songs that take us back there. Would you really want to remember what cheese you were eating in 1986?
Because when it comes right down to it, love really is the most important experience to have and the loss or betrayal of it brings out equally powerful and opposite emotions. Hardly any of Chrystal Methods music is about love;-)
